Motorcycles, fast cars, leather jackets, looking cool as hell – these are just a few of Austin Butler’s interests, all of which factor prominently into the Oscar nominee’s new campaign for the watch brand Breitling. Today, the Swiss maker – known best for its oversized, aviation-inspired Swiss made Breitling replica watches – is introducing a new collection of timepieces that aims to shift its image in a more modern, Bulter-ised direction.
It was Butler, in fact, who gave the watch world its first peek at Breitling’s latest release a few weeks ago. In mid-March, the actor arrived at the Saint Laurent show in Paris wearing a mysterious – but very cool – object on his wrist. I spoke with Butler and Breitling CEO Georges Kern about their new partnership, how the actor chooses the timepieces he wears on the big screen, and the potential for having his own signature 1:1 online Breitling super clone watches model in the future.
You’re now a Breitling man. What made them a good fit for you?
Austin Butler: The brand really fit organically with my style and the things that I love to do: riding motorcycles and living a life with as many adventures as I can. That mixed with just the wonderful team that’s here, and the heritage of the brand. I just learned that Serge Gainsbourg wore perfect China replica Breitling watches, which is very cool.
That is very cool. What did he wear?
It was a Navitimer. But Serge had this really cool band that had these holes in the side. I was told it was because he had eczema, so he got a special band made. But it was very fashionable.
A case of form meets function there, for sure. What do you have on your wrist right now?

Are there other pieces in the Breitling catalog that you’ve been drawn to that you think will be on your wrist in the future?
Yeah. I mean, the one that I was wearing day-to-day was the Chronomat, which also has a smaller dial, with a silver face. They just gave me this beautiful Breitling replica watches for sale yesterday – a Top Time from the ’60s.
Those pieces are on the smaller end – especially for Breitling, which is known for its big pilot watches. Do you typically look for slighter watches?
In the past, I’ve reached for a lot of vintage watches because I like the way that they fit. Georges used the term “modern retro” [to describe this watch] earlier, which I loved. The [Top Time] has all the elegance of modern pieces, but with the retro feeling as well.
What other qualities are you looking for in a watch?
I’m into something that, one, is timeless, and that you can fit with a wide variety of outfits. It really is in the same way as I’d pick a leather jacket or a white T-shirt – you find the perfect thing for you that somehow is an extension of your personality. And so for me, it’s so much about trying something on and feeling it. And I’ve been loving the steel band, because you can wear it with any outfit, and you can really dress it up or dress it down in a wonderful way.
What is it that you like about vintage watches?
It’s sparked by the images that inspired me in the first place, when I was very young, to even look at Swiss wholesale Breitling fake watches. I can think of certain photographs, actually, of Steve McQueen, Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, and another of James Dean when he’s taking a photograph. I looked at those images a lot at a very young age, and I wanted to dress like them, and I wanted to wear a watch like them.
Also, my grandfather always wore his watch backward so he could check it while he was driving. I thought that was really cool. I had all those influences from a young age, and there’s also a timelessness with vintage.
How did you get into collecting from there?
I mean, it wasn’t until the past certain number of years in my life that I was privileged enough to actually be around people who could educate me on top 2025 replica Breitling watches and let me try things on to see what I liked. And that’s why [it’s great to] meet guys like Georges, who knows so much more than I do. It’s learning about the artistry and just the number of years that goes into just even making the movements. That’s cool to hear it was the people around you. Do you feel like watches are a bigger deal than ever for your peers?
Butler: I don’t know if they’re more important now than they were before. I do think that when we all have a phone in our pocket, and a lot of people will just reach for their phone, I definitely find that the feeling of having an analog watch and not having to reach for a phone in my pocket to check the time is just a personal preference that I really appreciate. I like analog things. These [automatic movements] are great, because you don’t even need to wind it, you don’t need a battery.
Georges Kern: I panicked when Apple launched their watch many years back. In the analogue watch industry, we saw that actually, the Apple Watch is complementary because today you don’t wear an analog watch really to read time. It’s a statement, it’s a lifestyle, whilst 30 years ago it was really to read time.
The fear that electronic watches would replace analog watches disappeared quite quickly because most of the clients have both. If you go on a bike or if you go swimming, you probably have a digital watch on, but people are wearing [luxury watches] to go out.
That’s the huge difference between the car industry [and the watch industry]. In the car industry, you have electric cars. The problem with electric cars is you lose the emotion: you don’t have the sound, you don’t have the smell. Transportation becomes a commodity, while China luxury fake Breitling watches still remain as a piece of jewellery – as an element of style and lifestyle – forever. They will not lose in terms of emotions, the design, the sound, the touch and feel, which is very different from electric cars. How do you create a dream? Do you want to be in an electric Ferrari? Do you want to be in an electric Aston Martin? But you do it because you need to go from point A to point B with. A piece of jewellery will be there for hundreds of years, because you don’t need it to read the time – it’s not a commodity, it’s a style statement. And this is why the Swiss watch industry went through the roof since the Apple Watch came out.
As an actor, what’s your process of choosing watches for your characters? Like Elvis was known for his watches…
Kern: I think Elvis had a Universal Genève, the watch brand we are relaunching.
I was going to ask if Austin was going to be able to dabble in UG, because those are really cool. Austin, you’ll like those.
I will do my research. In Elvis, there were very specific watches that we used when recreating certain moments in his life. Whereas [on something like] Masters of the Air, what they tend to do is put a big tray of watches in front of you, and you try a ton on – the same way you try on the clothing – to see what fits with that character. Because it really is an extension of your own personality and your own character. And so it’s interesting when you are seeing Breitling replica watches UK site through the eyes of another person and seeing what fits their personality the best.
You’re not looking at it as Austin, you’re looking at it as whichever character you’re playing.
Exactly. You’re thinking what’s the story behind it? Did they get it from their family or a loved one? Or did they buy it? How much could they afford? And thinking through all that.
Now that you’re in the Breitling family, how does this spin forward? Will there be an Austin Butler collaborative watch?
Butler: Georges says, “Why not?” We haven’t discussed this yet, but I’m sure we’ll see. The more and more I’m getting into all the details I want to learn more and more about and see in what ways you can subtly vary the aesthetic of a watch. I love it all.
Kern: We’ll make a unique piece for Austin. We’re on it. I promised him already a couple of months ago that we’re going to send him some proposals. He doesn’t know yet. So now you get an email with some proposals to make that best quality fake Breitling Top Time watches unique. Which would be a one-off piece just for him.
